WMAEE June 2013 - Chapter Meeting
We will be holding a June WM AEE meeting at the Michigan Energy Fair in Ludington at 11:30 a.m. on June 7th, just prior to the start of the seminars.
On Friday, there will be 20 workshops for energy and facility professionals including session on Community Solar, Living Building Challenge, Smart Grid & Renewables, Net Metering, Michigan Saves, updates on DTE and Consumers Energy solar pilots, PV & LEED and PV Permitting, to name a few. There is a $25 fee for the Friday workshops and you can pre-register at www.glrea.org.
The $25 fee also includes a reception Friday night at the Blue Moon Cafe in downtown Ludington. This will be a networking event with Steve Hilfinger, Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Hilfinger will discuss state energy policy and programs from an economic development perspective. MEDC is the state’s economic development agency and includes the state energy office, the lead state agency on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Mr. Hilfinger oversees MEDC operational and administrative functions and works with MEDC’s senior leadership to support business growth and create more and better jobs throughout Michigan. Prior to accepting this appointment by Governor Snyder, Mr. Hilfinger served as director of the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and was the state’s chief regulatory officer.
Saturday will be free for attendees - 16 workshops, exhibits, kids' activities, alternative fuel vehicle showcase, Green School art contest winners and music - great event for the whole family.
Wind Farm Tours of the Lake Winds Energy Park will be available again this year at on June 7 & 8). There will be four tours: 9:30 and 2:30 on Friday and 9:30 and 11:30 on Saturday. There are limited seats, but you can pre-register by emailing johnsarver3@gmail.com with day and time preference.
